Construction Manager

PURPOSE OF THE JOBConstruction Managers are responsible for planning and executing project design and construction strategies that result in safe, on-schedule, and on-budget project deliveries.
This includes coordination of overall construction site activities, interfaces with plant maintenance and operations, equipment commissioning & start-up activities and final system turnover.
Proper coordination of these activities is key to the successful delivery and start-up of large capital projects.
Having the ability to provide these services consistently and efficiently across multiple projects and businesses is key to the long-term success of Owens Corning.

Primary focus is North America; ability to travel globally is required.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIESProject Development - Preconstruction planning:
Leads constructability reviews during engineering design.
Focal point for developing and incorporating best practices and standards for contract documents and field work.
Works with the scheduling group to develop high level construction schedules.
Provides input into overall project cost estimating.
Deliver large capital projects safely, on time, on budget, and in accordance with all federal, local, and Owens Corning regulations and processes.
Administer construction management safety procedures and construction site safety program.
Be a Project Safety Champion - Own Site Safety.
Monitor and participate in contractor development and review of task specific Job Hazards Analysis.
Manage and control worksite lock-out (LTT / LOTO) plan.
Administer all general conditions and construction site support activities.
Is an effective communicator (verbal & written) and knows how to escalate concerns in a proactive manner.
Coordinates site set up, power, office trailer space/arrangement, laydown area, material storageManage the OC construction team and manage the interface between the on-site project team and the plant operations team.
Verify Field construction progress, identify critical path issues, provide schedule updates, and facilitate schedule compression, risk mitigation, and back-up plans.
Provide coordination of multiple construction contractors to enable streamlined completion of work.
Monitor overall contractor performance.
Enforce field quality compliance in accordance with the project quality management program.
Coordinate shop inspections for critical Owens Corning and contractor furnished equipment and materials.
Coordinate and conduct daily project progress meetings and daily contractor coordination meetings.
Prepare and issue daily progress/safety reports.
Administer all field changes utilizing the Owens corning change order process.
Facilitate development of As-Built records and documentation for formal turnover to facility owners.
Coordinate punch list completion, final equipment & system inspections, and acceptance activities.
Validate contractor and subcontractor payment requests.
Coordinate development and distribution of red-lined documentation to site and project team personnel.
Plan and organize commissioning and vertical start-up activities.
Commissioning & startup plan:
Support vertical startup and continued commissioning activitiesCoordinate instrumentation calibration activitiesCoordinate equipment start-up by supplier representativesCoordinate sequence-of-operations checksCoordinate walk-downs with site Maintenance and Operations personnelCoordinate motor run-in activities and alignmentsCoordinate completion of all remaining scope and punch list itemsPost construction:
Develop and issue final project close-out report for lessons learnedDevelop and issue enhanced turnover packages for all in-scope systems and areasCoordinate demobilization of construction management staff and temporary facilities JOB REQUIREMENTSMINIMUM
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Safety or Engineeringand5 years of experience in industrial construction or equivalent plant experience OR 10 years of experience in industrial contructionand a High School DiplomaWorking knowledge of Microsoft office suite, and Microsoft Project software.
Excellent written and verbal English communications skillsConflict Resolution skill set.
Ability to travel 50% - 75%, which varies depending on the timing of project work.
PREFERRED
Qualifications:
OSHA-30-hour training certificationPrimavera scheduling software experience.
Understanding of common contractor contract strategies (EPC, EPCM, Split-form, etc.
) and how to optimally execute a project under a given contract.
