Mechanical Utilities Engineer

Location: Granville, Ohio - United States PURPOSE OF THE JOB The Sr. Engineering Specialist is a part of the Capital Delivery group and is responsible for the development of specifications for procurement and design of Mechanical Utility Systems. Capital Delivery execution consist of all aspects of completing capital projects from the Fitness For Use of a project, the strategy of implementation, the detailed design, implementation of all buildings / equipment, and the successful start up of this equipment to the handover to the production personnel. This effort includes the process and equipment design/definition, and incremental or step change process development for all production lines in the OCV manufacturing arena on a worldwide basis. Global operations support, best practice gathering and proliferation are also included in this effort. Reports to : Engineering Leader Span of Control : Manufacturing plants in North America and international JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Focused on, but not limited to the generation of the mechanical, air handling, and utility facility systems that support the overall production of glass fibers Development of cost estimates for engineering and capital delivery. Supervision of mechanical / electrical designers in the development of designs for process equipment: Hardware selection Drawings Layouts; and Interface diagrams. Works with Electrical counterparts on software development for HMI interfaces JOB REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering 10+ years of experience leading Capital Projects related to plant Mechanical Systems This position requires 30-50% travel. Some international travel is a requirement. Based out of the Owens Corning Science & Technology Center in Granville, Ohio PREFERRED EXPERIENCE : Experience in equipment checkout, debugging, commissioning, and start up activities of mechanical utility equipment. Broad range of experience in industrial hardware (pumps, motors, chillers, compressors, HVAC, fans, blowers, water treatment, fluid filtering etc.) Use of Auto Cad Design Software and other related design packages. Use and interface of programming Allen Bradley and/or Siemens systems Experience with inverters for speed control. Interfaces to electrical components, and their functions Professional Engineer Licensure preferred, but not required 6 Sigma Black or Green belt preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES : Basic understanding of electrical engineering schemes for effective interface with electrical engineering colleagues in design of utility equipment Experience in international project execution Desired, but not necessary Foreign Language Skills: French, Russian, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean or Italian The successful candidate must be a flexible individual that can work effectively across the global organization, be a good communicator, and excel at teamwork. The individual must be comfortable in design, project leadership and on the manufacturing plant floor for equipment start-up and commissioning. The position is a ladder engineering job and it may be filled at a higher or lower level than indicated depending on candidate qualifications and growth potential. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster.
